On July 4th we celebrate America and all that makes this land truly great. We remember the courage and spirit of not only the founders, but those who have fought and led the way to a free America, where opportunity and liberty can be enjoyed by all.
As Americans we stand for democracy and human rights. We stand for freedom of speech, thought and inquiry. We stand for the sacred values, enshrined in our constitution, of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. From turning America’s back on our democratic allies, to attacking the free press, to cruelly separating families at the border, Donald Trump has time and time again shown his disdain for the values that make America a shining beacon on the hill. Make no mistake; the fight against this administration is a fight for the soul of our country.
This is a fight we will win. Because when I look at the great story of America, one fact endures through the ages: that in the face of struggle, when we Americans unite, mobilize, and fight for the future we want to build, Americans make history. Let’s make history again this year – let’s bend that moral arc back towards justice.
