As you’re well aware, people throughout the Gulf Coast region have had their lives upended in the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey. In the days since, we’ve seen tens of thousands seeking refuge in shelters, and as many as 400,000 more will need to seek relief of in the wake of this natural disaster.
I’ve been inspired to see so many willing to bravely step up and lend a hand to those suffering in Houston and throughout the Gulf Coast region, including Baltimore County’s own Fire Captain John Amrhein, Fire Lt. Byron Welker, Fire Apparatus Operator Steve Yealdhall, Health and Human Services Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Terry Sapp, EMS Lt. Kevin Palmer, and EMS Lt. Rick Blubaugh. Join me in thanking them for all their work to help fellow Americans in need.
For those of us who can’t be there physically to help, let’s make sure to do what we can financially. The recovery and relief efforts are underway, but they will be ongoing for some time.
